F/U Livestock, from humble beginnings great things come.
Hi, my name is Jake Volk. As a kid I was lucky enough to grow up on a family farm in rural southwest Idaho. Growing up on a farm, for those who do not know, is hard work. We never had a lot of money, or the nicest equipment, but we always had what we needed. My dad taught me a lot about row crop farming as well as livestock. We farmed row crops such as corn, grain, sugar beets, and alfalfa during the summer and fed cattle during the winter. Since we did not have hired hands, my brother, sister, and I got to work and help out with whatever needed done, pretty much year-round. My friends that lived in town did not think this was “lucky” and at times neither did I. Looking back now I am thankful, because this life taught me work ethic. I learned early on that nothing is for free, if you want something, you better get off your butt and earn it.
Once I got out of high school, I had my fill of farming and decided to go to trade school to become a mechanic. From there I worked construction and eventually started my own mechanic business. Even still I have always been drawn towards the agricultural lifestyle.
Fast forward to 2020, I meet a wonderful, smart, good looking woman who grew up with similar beginnings and the same work ethic that I did. A few months later we are married and F/U livestock is born. Though we both have full time jobs, we both share a love for the western lifestyle.
We have a small farm where we raise Angus cattle and three boys. Our registered brand is F/U, it stands for Fed/Up, and can have multiple meanings. 1 – In the livestock world, fed up means that your animals are well fed, good looking, quality animals that a person would be proud of. 2 – You’re fed up with the way things are and you are ready to make a change for the better. Both are things that we strive for. Since my wife and I are from humble beginnings we understand how hard things can be. This is why we started our apparel line as a way to raise money to help out kids in our community. Today it has grown to much more allowing us to expand to larger events and larger goals. We truly enjoy creating our designs and love seeing people smile or get a chuckle from our humor. Though we are probably not for everyone, we are not trying to be. But know when you support the F/U brand, you are supporting our youth and the continuation of our patriotic western lifestyle.
Thank you for your support,
Jake and Annette Volk
And remember…”You can’t beat our meat”!
